Zang Peng

Zang Peng

Originally from Datong, in Shanxi province, and active in Beijing since 2005, he is a contemporary painter known for his intimate and contemplative approach to figuration. He trained at the Oil Painting Department of the Shanxi Normal University Academy of Fine Arts. His work is distinguished by a refined pictorial language, where each gesture is measured and the soft palette evokes silence, stillness, and introspection. Through delicate, composed brushstrokes, he transforms everyday moments into suspended, almost meditative scenes. His paintings reflect a worldview rooted in the pursuit of inner peace, the value of simplicity, and the emotional depth of ordinary life. He has exhibited at numerous fairs and institutions, including the John Moores Painting Prize China Tour, Art Xiamen, the Affordable Art Fair in Shanghai, the Hi21 Art Fair in Beijing, the Minsheng Art Museum in Shanghai, the Today Art Museum, and the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art. His images, far from any form of spectacle, are traces of inner landscapes—intimate and subtle—exploring the fragility and resilience of human experience.
